I Am Keeping Art Out Of Landfills One SKOAL Can At A Time!
I LOVE creating art with recycled containers!
Friends send me exotic containers they can not throw away because the packaging contaers are so-so cool. Mint tins from a brand I use, Candy tins from a friend and fellow artist in Manhattan, NY, Illies Coffee cans from another artist in Encinitas, CA and SKOAL cans from South Louisiana have been my focus.
I have been focused on the SKOAL cans because they are just SO-SO cool! many people do not even know SKOAL still exists...but yes it does!
Check out my mini SKOAL can video so you can see how they look.
The base is plastic, the top is tin.
I paint them with a paint I found in the hardware store made for industrial machines...but paint is paint and I am all about re-purposing!
I thinks they would be great for guitar picks, jewelry, tiny treasures and stash of all kinds.
It is a luxury item for sure.People who love unique, one of a kind ,handmade items would love them!!
I gave one with some Meditations Rocks inside to friends leaving the states for Sydney. He is a Texan who knew exactly what SKOAL can were. He LOVED the gift!
Let me know what you think!
